The 54/38 Firefighter Juniors Program is designed for individuals ages 14 to 19 who are interested in the fire service but are not yet full members of a fire department. Junior firefighters participate in many of the same trainings and drills as active members, learning the skills needed to become a firefighter.

Junior members take part in drills and hands-on training that include:

  • Vehicle extrication

  • Vehicle fire operations

  • Fire gear familiarization

  • Radio procedures

  • Water and ice rescue

  • Exterior fire operations

  • Interior fire operations

The Juniors Program is an excellent opportunity to begin learning the responsibilities and skills of the fire service at an early age. The experience and training gained through the volunteer fire service can also serve as a strong foundation for those who wish to pursue a career as a firefighter in the future. If you or your child are interested in joining you can contact the advisors at Jsmith@RLFD.org or Jso@RLFD.org
