How It Started
IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
a Malta town meeting in 1948 exposed the inadequacies of the existing fire protection plan. A charter for the Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Company was applied for and approved; the original charter totaled 68 members. Those original members purchased a 1928 American LaFrance pumper(see above photo). A small utility truck was also donated to the company. In 1949, a Quonset Hut was purchase to house the engine and tanker trucks.
